Jemison Beshears, A Retrospective

Join us Sunday, January 26th as we welcome returning artist Jemison Beshears for a broad view of his many works. The reception is from 12:30 until 4pm and will have musical accompaniment from Don Prell on bass and Ralph Probst on guitar. Beshears’ work will be on view and available for purchase through February 3rd, 2025.

Jemison Beshears achieved a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1971. He was taught sculpture by Jack Granata and painting under Melville Price. In 1981 he finished his art education, completing a Master of Fine Arts degree from San Francisco State University where he did studio work under Stephen Destabler and Seymour Locks. He taught a class (700) under Leonard Hunter in 1984.

He worked for 17 years under Greg Martin at Butterfield and later at Greg Martin Auctions as an antique arms and militaria specialist.

In 1993 he went to southern Arizona to be in the western film “Tombstone”, where he played a faro dealer

In 2015 he was featured alongside William Rhodes and Tanya Herrara in a show entitled “Carnage”. http://Carnage
